Yesterday Nathan had the day off
(a Saturday...in June...it's a MIRACLE!) so we hopped a ferry and went to see the Island of Procida. Procida is one of the
Flegrean Islands off the coast of Naples...it is tiny
(something like 1.6 square miles) and BEAUTIFUL.

Waiting for the ferry. You can see Procida in the backgroud. |
We got off the ferry, and went in search of a hat for me (gotta protect my Danish skin!...now we just have to talk Nathan into wearing one) and someplace to eat. |

Typical street. |
About half way up to the monastery/lookout point, we came across this church. Pretty huh?
Statue and church behind it. (You can see this church in the large pic below) |
More hiking...ok, I say hiking but it was just walking up STEEP cobblestone roads...and we got to the lookout point for THIS view...isn't it amazing?!
We walked across the island, up to the monastery and got this view...gorgeous, eh? It's called the Painted City. |
Us...me in my Kentucky Derby hat. |
We found a great place to eat, right down on the harbor. The food was AMAZING...it was the first time Miles had swordfish!
The view from our table at lunch...the cement building up on the top is the monastery. |
Calamari, zucchini, carrot, potato...fried |
Swordfish and green pepper spaghetti |
After lunch we walked back up the hill and back across the island to the beach. Stopping to get gelato of course. :)
Not sure what to think of the sand. |
Daddy buried me. |
Procida was amazing and I'm pretty sure it will not be the last time we visit.
